Divisive religions
We are firstly humans, and next, children of god. God and religion, are two different words, with unique meanings. God is eternal and like virtual reality, and he/she helps whoever helps other fellow creatures, created by god. Whereas, religion is something man-made, formulated to attract god by helping others, in the name of rituals.
But, now, people have started misusing it to earn profits. Few of the following lines may hurt Hindus. But being a Hindu, I have gone only to temples. So, I have experienced changes and divisions only in temples. That doesn’t mean others are genuine. It’s like smashing a rice to test whether the whole lot of rice has got boiled properly. There was a time when I was a small boy and I used to go to a nearby Vinayagar temple where the pujari used to apply Vibhuti on my forehead. Also, he showed no partiality between those who pay archanai amounts and others. But, now, things have changed and pujaris with a similar impartial behaviour have become hard to find- “Once upon a time characters”. Now, even in Thirupathi (with never-draining treasury), you must pay to shave your head. Well, I can excuse all these things for rising costs of living.
But, what I hate the most in the transition is that now, we have to pay for prasadams and free Anna Dhaan has become a rare event in most of the temples. Let me tell you an incident which happened not too long ago, when I went to Thiruvannamalai as my brother wanted to participate in girivalam so as to show his gratitude to god for allowing him to do exams well.. I am someone who doesn’t believe in worshipping god but still, I was excited about meeting some siddhas about whom I had been hearing a lot about. But, ironically, to my disappointment, i found later on, after my visit, that it was all hype, and all I could spot and speak about my economic situations, were beggars, beggars and beggars...
And girivalam happened by road, that too, a high way😧. My mother couldn’t walk more than 4 kms due to her ailment in right leg. So I and my mother went to the temple early by car and slept for some hours in car waiting for my brother and my father. Even after we woke, they were still walking. Then we went in the temple and waited there for a few more hours, leading to having interactions with beggars now and then. They were nearly demanding for food or begging for money near the temple. One among them came inside the temple and begged for food near the temple canteen( Prasadam centre) and a temple administrator nearly thrashed and made him go out of the temple, as he was disturbing the canteen’s customers.
Service to humanity is service to god. What is the use of maintaining temples, where we worship god, if we are not helping a fellow creature of god. I don’t appreciate begging. But not all beggars beg for entertainment and money, to become crorepathi. There are many really poor people who cannot afford to buy food, who can really get benefitted if Anna Dhaan is facilitated in temples, instead of making temple canteens. We already have Amma Unavagam for that purpose. If Lord shiva can be worshipped and his blessings seeked in Thiruvannamalai, then even our former CM J. Jayalalithaa deserves to be worshipped in all Amma Unavagams/Canteens🤬
To conclude, I don’t know what the situation of other religious centres is, but my pleading to all those institutions is that please don’t divide people, in the name of religion. Don’t be too stingy and construct canteens, do food donations to the needy deserving poor people. And my pleading to the general public viewers is to respect no religion more than god. Why I say this is because of existence of people who think their religion to be the reality and the superiority. Few days ago, one of my relatives said that Green colour in our National flag must be removed as it refers to Muslims, and that he will be painting his face saffron and white to support Indian Cricket Team. I don’t have words to scold him. First of all what Pakistani Muslim terrorists do is itself wrong. Then, what will Indian Muslims, Pakistanis who don't have the hobby of killing people, do for what a few of other Muslims do. Terrorism isn't in any one particular religion, but religuosness is the reason for terrorism. Beleive in all gods, worship every one of them, follow the customs, but don't associate yourself too much with one religion. Just because a person jumps from third floor, you too needn't jump..
